High Resolution Images

Why All Images in Your Real Estate Newsletter Need to be High Resolution

To print a good quality, clear, crisp image your photos and company logo need to have a resolution of at least 300 dpi (dots per inch). An image that looks good on your computer screen won’t necessarily look good when printed (it only needs to be 72 dpi to look good on a computer screen).

A low resolution image will print like this even if it looks good on screen. Note the image looks patchy, grainy or pixelated.

A good quality, high resolution image.

A high resolution, 300 dpi image will print a good quality, crisp, clear image.

Images are measured in pixels. A pixel is a tiny dot of colour. An image is made up of millions of tiny dots of colour, or pixels. To print good quality your image must have at least 300 dots per inch (300 dpi). Therefore, the resolution of a printed photo sized 1.5″ x 1″ needs to be at least 450 x 300 pixels.

To check the resolution of your image, right click on the file and select Properties. The photo below is 450 x 300 pixels.
